Hi, I’m Em!

I’m a momma, farmer, cow lover, and owner of Afterglow. I decided to start an ice cream sandwich company because I wanted to support two of central Maine’s staple agricultural products: grain and dairy.

I’ve been working in the food and agriculture world for over 15 years. I believe supporting local farms and products is a form of activism against a food system that’s causing harm to our planet and the people on it. I also believe that treats are worth indulging in, and that food made with love is food that brings us joy! I work from a little commercial kitchen on our family farm in Embden, crafting each sammie with care and attention to detail. I hope you love our sammies as much as I love making them.

“I want that! I want that!”

Our son on his 2nd birthday, after we brought the sammies out, but before we could start singing Happy Birthday.

 Try delectable, Maine-inspired, seasonal flavors

We love playing around in the kitchen to create unique flavor combinations with as many Maine-grown ingredients as possible!

“These sammies are out of this world.”

“So happy to have them in the shop. Everything is perfect from the packaging design to the product inside. You should be very, very proud!!”

Sammies made with love are made to share with loved ones!

“My partner wanted to try the Sammies tonight, so I went to the closest Rosemont Market, and they had none, so I went on a bit of a scavenger hunt. I was able to find the last unit at one Rosemont, the last unit at another location — thankfully, both flavors which we wanted! My partner said it was one of the best things he’s tasted in a very long time, and ever in the Portland area (and we have eaten most everything and everywhere) ... Thanks for making such a wonderful product! 🙏💜”
